Simplification Sunday: Week Three

This week was a good week of simplifying, but it was also not so good in that I did say yes to a few crafting requests and some other things that maybe I should have said "no" to . . . oh well. Onward and upward.

This week I:
- quit The Committee from Hell, which should free up enough emotional energy and time for at least 17 lifetimes.
- cleaned out junk drawer in kitchen . . . really, when am I hosting a birthday party?
- did groceries and prepared some meals in advance (this is more of a battle for me than you can ever know)
- threw out some old, worn out sports clothes that I replaced over Christmas
- purged my first aid supplies and tossed most of it . . . seriously, Erin, your pink eye drops come with Norwegian instructions. You haven't been in Norway since 2007, nor have you had pink eye since then. Ditch them.
- unliked a bunch of stuff on Facebook. Everyday National Geographic posts a photo of the day, and every day I don't go look at it. It's just clutter and something I feel ill about not doing or taking care of.
- stopped all email announcements from Facebook. I live on Facebook, I don't need it clogging up my inbox every three seconds with a message I know I've already received.
- said no to two social engagements, I have a bad habit of booking myself up weeks in advance and end up feeling way too exhausted to be nice to anybody.
- I sorted and organized all my knitting tools because I made this . . . I tossed three lonely needles, some weird things that I didn't even know what they were

I really have to say no to more things for a while . . . and finish more crafting projects and school projects I promised people. Did things get simpler for you or more chaotic this week?

  1. It's a constant challenge to live more simply. Congrats on the changes you've been able to make!

  2. Thanks, Laura! Isn't it a challenge? Weird, eh? It's also sometimes hard to figure out what really stresses you out and what simplicity means to you. Sometimes it's less stuff to do, but sometimes a joy-filled schedule is also good. Sometimes it's purging and cleaning, but sometimes it's letting things be a cluttered mess that means living simply for me. I hope to make progress on many fronts. :)

  3. a) Where's my Christmas card?
    b) Part of your decluttering should be to use that cineplex ticket! If it hasn't already expired.

I had a volunteer-, party-, work-free weekend and it was AMAZING. I had such a happy time. I went snowboarding, baked, got a hair cut and did some chores.

  4. I have another memo board by my desk, and then the back wall of my desk is also a memo board, so it is one of those two places. :)

That Cineplex ticket is actually part of my decluttering - I cashed in all my HBC points for it. I think I'm just going to give it away since I hate movies.
